The hCard was featured in the November 11 issue of the Winchendon Courier in Winchendon, MA! The Murdock Middle High School Blue Devils football team presented The hCard to firefighters and police officers to thank them for their service to the community.

More than just a fundraiser, The hCard not only helps schools and nonprofit organizations raise money for their cause, but it brings consumers, the local merchants and the entire community together.

John Posey, owner of the Raleigh, North Carolina office of Home Instead Senior Care is helping the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk raise funds with The hCard. Read what he had to say about the benefits his employees are enjoying with their hCards:
My name is John Posey and I am the owner of the Raleigh, NC office of Home Instead Senior Care. I am involved with the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk in my area and the association has their very own Memory Walk hCard.

I want to express my delight at how the hCards I have bought my employees have been received. My employees think it is the best gift I have ever given them and many have used the Roadside Plan which helps my employees show up on time at my client’s homes. My office staff giggles when they find the incredible deals on the weekly emails you send.

What a great employee benefit at a reasonable cost to me, the owner. Keep up the good work!

Read what Rita Bhan with the Alzheimer’s Association of Eastern North Carolina had to say about The hCard and SchoolHeart’s Fundraising Program:

“Just a quick note to thank you again for bringing the hCard to us.  I know we are just beginning with its connection to Memory Walk, but I feel like our goal of selling 15,000 hCards this year is absolutely achievable.  I have been doing fundraising and development for the Chapter for twelve years and this is by far the greatest idea I’ve seen. We plan to introduce it to donors for a $50 donation in our next newsletter and the great thing about it is that we only have to introduce it once…it will sell itself after that without any involvement from us.   We’ve had over 1,100 hits on our hCard website and I honestly feel like this is going to be huge for us.  So, again, thanks so much for thinking of us and introducing us to a really, almost hands free, fundraising mechanism.  Memory Walk is a really important event for us but takes an enormous amount of time and effort in planning and execution – I can foresee the hCard having a healthy impact on Chapter fundraising with very little time and effort expended on our part – and believe me, I like that idea.  Again, thanks and if you ever need a testimonial, just let me know and I’ll whip one up for you ‘cause I’m a believer!”

The hCard is helping San Jose’s East Side Union School District save their sports programs, and we’ve been covered in their local sports blogs. Check out this entry from the “After School” blog:

The ESUHSD is teaming up with ThehCard.com in one of the fundraisers. The card cost $25 for a year and includes numerous discounts at local and national merchants _ including a roadside assistance program, a prescription discount card and promotions with hotels and airlines.

The Philanthropy Journal (www.philanthropyjournal.org) covered SchoolHeart and The hCard in an April 2nd article. From the article:

“It’s taking folks online to do their fundraising so they don’t have to do the door-to-door stuff,” Burnett says.

By buying an hCard, which offers discounts at a variety of stores and restaurants throughout the U.S., including Red Lobster, Starbucks and Barnes & Noble, customers direct half of the $25 cost to the charity or school of their choice.

The card also offers discounts on prescription drugs, as well as roadside-assistance and emergency-contact services.

More than 2,000 hCards have been purchased or given out so far in 28 states, Burnett told The News & Observer in Raleigh.

Already more than 100 schools and nonprofit groups have signed up to post the hCard link on their websites, and three to six new clients sign up daily, Burnett says.

“Signing up takes three minutes, and it’s free,” she says.
